A lawyer for one of the former directors of failed finance company Bridgecorp says he has lodged a formal appeal against the decision not to grant legal aid.
Rodney Petricevic and Robert Roest have applied for taxpayer-funded legal aid to pay for their defence against charges relating to the collapse of the company in 2007.
The collapse left investors owed more than $450 million.
Mr Petricevic's lawyer, Charles Cato, says his client's application has been denied, so he has requested a formal review into the decision.
Mr Roest's lawyer says they are still waiting to hear the fate of their application.
The judge has further remanded the two men until the end of the month, to reappear and discuss the Legal Aid Services response.
