China and NZ in bilateral currency swap deal

China and New Zealand have signed a $5 billion bilateral currency swap agreement.

The Reserve Bank says the deal will support bilateral financial cooperation and facilitating trade between the two countries.

Since December 2008, China has broadened the influence of the yuan by arranging swap agreements with South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Belarus, Argentina, Iceland and Singapore.
