The mining industry dominates the annual list of Australia's top 200 wealthiest people published by BRW magazine.
For the first time, Australia's richest person is a woman - iron ore heiress Gina Rinehart, with a fortune of over $A10 billion.
Fellow Perth mining magnate Andrew Forrest was third.
Radio New Zealand's Sydney correspondent says Ms Rinehart and Mr Forrest led a rebellion last year against the federal government's proposed resource super profits tax.
Number two on the list is Ivan Glasenberg, a South African who became an Australian citizen only recently.
He's chief executive of a company called Glencore, whick makes its money by trading commodities.
