Business warned abut bullying

Employers in Australia are being warned about the impact of bullying on the bottom line.

Radio New Zealand's Sydney correspondent reports a new survey shows almost a third of Australian employees claim to have been bullied in the workforce, with a quarter experiencing the problem in the last two years.

Almost half of the 5000 people surveyed said they had also witnessed a colleague being bullied or discriminated against.

The state of Victoria recently introduced legislation against workplace bullying.

And WorkPro, the group that commissioned the study, has warned employers they risk future occupational health and safety claims if they ignore the issue.
