The NZX50 closed down 7 points to 3286 on turnover of $83 million on Thursday.
In the currency markets at 5.02pm, the kiwi was trading at 82.80 US cents, 74.47 Australian, 52.81 pence, 64.82 yen and 0.6354 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.15.
Fletcher Building was down 5 cents to $6.48, Telecom was down 1 cent to $2.13, Chorus was down 1 cent at $3.28 and Contact was down 3 cents to $4.77.
Sky City Entertainment was up 2 cents to $3.61 and Sky Television was down 8 cents to $4.94.
Tower was down 1 cent to $1.44.
Michael Hill was up 2 cents to 89 cents.
