Emergency services have pulled the body of a driver from a car submerged in a Central Otago dam lake.
Police say the middle-aged man, and sole occupant of the car, crashed into the lake behind the Poolburn Dam north of Alexandra at about 1am on Sunday.
The crash is being investigated and police say they are not ruling out alcohol as a contributing factor.
The man's name has not been released as next of kin are yet to be
informed.
