The body of a New Zealand pilot whose helicopter crashed in the Indonesian province of Papua killing all on board has been recovered.

Shri Rama Krishnan, 42, of Auckland and two Indonesian passengers were on the six-seater Squirrel which crashed during a routine food supply trip on Saturday morning.

Mr Krishnan had been working for Queenstown-based aviation management and supply company Kershaw Aviation Group for the past year.

The company says it operates a fleet of helicopters for the mineral and exploration industries, mostly in the Papua province of Indonesia, and the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.

Kershaw Aviation Group says as well as working with air accident investigators it is also conducting an investigation.

Two members of its senior management team are expected to arrive in the province on Monday afternoon.
