Service and Food Workers Union members at the Oceania rest home chain have stepped up their strikes over pay.
Thirty work sites from Auckland to Southland, involving up to 1500 members, went on strike for four hours on Thursday.
They want pay increases across the board, and say up to a third of Oceania employees are currently paid $13.61 per hour.
The union says talks with Oceania have stalled and legal action is now being considered.
