NZ films to screen in New York festival

3:25 pm on 12 April 2012

Two New Zealand short films will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York next week.

They were selected from more than 2800 submissions from 25 countries.

The two New Zealand titles, 43,000 Feet and Whakariki, will compete with 58 others.

Writer Matthew Harris says 43,000 Feet was inspired by a New York window washer who survived after falling 47 stories from an apartment building.

The Tribeca Film Festival was established in 2003. The winning short film will qualify for consideration in the Academy Awards.
