Suspected card skimmers stopped from entering NZ

Two suspected card skimmers have been stopped trying to come in to New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand and Customs say the men were stopped when they arrived in Auckland on a flight from Guangzhou in China after profiling experts picked them out.

Customers officers found electronic equipment when they searched the luggage of a Bulgarian and a Romanian.

Acting head of immigration Steve McGill says the men could give no valid reason for coming to New Zealand and had only limited knowledge of the attractions they wanted to visit.

Mr McGill says given that, and the information Customs had about the pair, they were denied entry and returned to Guangzhou.

In April, Immigration New Zealand stopped nine suspected Bulgarian card skimmers from entering the country.
