A human skeleton has been discovered at a beach in Port Waikato.
Counties Manukau police says an extremely high tide revealed the top of the skull and it was found early on Saturday at Sunset Beach by a woman walking her dog.
It is understood the skeleton had been buried there for years.
A post-mortem will be carried out on Tuesday.
