Waikato police say the death of a man in Paeroa overnight is being treated as suspicious.
His body was discovered in the town's business district early on Monday,and a post mortem was scheduled for Tuesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead says the body of 57 year old man is yet to be formally identified.
But he is linked to a nearby business.
Mr Whitehead says it is too early to say how the man died but there are signs of trauma.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the town early on Monday.
They say they can't rule out a link between the death and two attempted robberies in Waihi and Katikati overnight.
