The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has censured an Auckland nurse who stole $70 from the resident of a retirement village.
In a decision released on Tuesday, the tribunal said it felt sympathy for Susifina Tameifuna because of her dire financial situation, but her actions in late 2006 amounted to a significant breach of trust.
It suspended her registration as a nurse for three months and declined name suppression.
In a separate decision, the tribunal cancelled the registration of an Invercargill nurse, Bronwyn Jane Hawes.
Hawes had earlier been convicted of defrauding Southland District Health Board of about $15,000 in salary, which she had falsely claimed between January 2005 and March 2006.
