Part of National Library to open next week

12:11 pm on 4 August 2012

A section of the National Library reopens to researchers on Monday for the first time since refurbishment began two years ago.

The Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington houses everything that has been published in New Zealand and much of what has been published about New Zealand overseas.

The collection includes books, manuscripts, photographs and artworks.

The chief librarian Chris Szekely says the closure has meant a long time without access to the collection for those researching books, publication or a thesis.

Meanwhile, work continues on the $65 million refurbishment programme, with the National Library expected to reopen in November.
