A woman who lay heavy vegetation for eight hours overnight after being thrown from her vehicle, has been winched from a steep bank near the Rimutaka Hill Road in a moderate condition.
Emergency services were not able to find her after the vehicle went off the road on the Wairarapa side of the hill at about 10pm on Thursday.
The woman was found in very heavy vegetation on Friday morning, about 100 metres below the crashed vehicle.
She was taken to Wellington hospital by helicopter, with hypothermia, but no visible injuries.
The crash happened halfway down the Featherston side of the hill.
