Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was in high demand these holidays.
The helicopter carried out 65 missions over two weeks in December and January, almost 50% more than the same perid last year. There were 44 last year.
Chief executive Bob Parkinson said the Coromandel Peninsula is busy with more people on the water and roads.
He said one of the two helicopters has been based in Whitianga, which has helped to deal with the increased demand.
