Bay of Plenty police say the family of an 83-year-old man who left his Katikati home on Tuesday morning to travel to Auckland is concerned for his safety.
Frank Knowles was to stay overnight at his grand-daughter's home in Auckland before driving to Whangarei on Wednesday to his daughter's house.
Police say Mr Knowles was not in the habit of driving great distances and is described as a cautious driver.
They say the family has not seen or heard from Mr Knowles since he left Katikati, which is out of character.
He is driving a baby blue coloured Honda Accord with the registration UN1109.
