Hip Hop trio Smashproof is now in its 10th week in a row at number one - setting a new record for a domestic artist on the New Zealand singles charts.

Their single Brother about youth crime, drugs and graffiti in South Auckland.

The previous record of nine consecutive weeks on top lasted 23 years: it was the 1986 single Sailing Away by the group 'All of Us'.

However, Hip Hop artist Scribe still has the most non-consecutive weeks at number one, with Stand Up holding the top spot for 12 weeks.
