An international student has been refused entry into New Zealand for failing to declare meat and fish.
The Chinese student, who was on a two-year study visa, told a quarantine officer at Auckland Airport that he had no goods that pose a biosecurity risk.
However a baggage X-ray showed otherwise, with undeclared beef, duck, fish and chicken discovered.
The Ministry for Primary Industries says the student admitted he did not declare the meat because he didn't want the product seized. That breached the Biosecurity Act and immigration officials denied him entry.
