An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with three bank robberies in Auckland and will appear in the Auckland District Court on Monday on a range of charges.

The arrest follows the robberies of a Dominion Rd Post Shop last Tuesday and the St Luke's branch of the ASB on Saturday morning, and the attempted robbery of the National Bank in Newmarket on Sunday.

Police say detectives based in Avondale are continuing to investigate the three robberies, as well as others that have occurred in the area.

There have been five bank robberies in Auckland in the past six days, with 25 holdups around the country already this year.
