2:45 pm on 8 October 2013

An Air New Zealand plane blew a tyre while preparing for takeoff at Auckland Airport on Tuesday morning.

The incident cancelled the flight.

The Boeing 737 was taxiing from the departure gate to the runway at the start of its 9am Wellington-bound flight when the tyre blew.

A passenger on the plane Rose Patterson says the incident caused a loud bang.

Air New Zealand says passengers are being put on other flights.

No other flights were disrupted.
