A new account of New Zealand's involvement in the WWI and its impact on the country has been released.

New Zealand and the First World War 1914-1919 is by Damien Fenton, a historian at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.

The book is the flagship publication of the WWI centennial programme which has the job of organising all aspects of the centenary commemorations, from services to a memorial park.

The Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, Chris Finlayson, says the book is a comprehensive look at New Zealand's involvement in the war and the effect it had on the people in this country.
