Name suppression has been lifted for a retired podiatrist who abused 11 children over two decades.

Wellington man Geoffrey Trethewey, 89, is serving a sentence of home detention.

Detective Dave Bealing says an investigation was started following a complaint from a woman in 2011.

Police located a further nine women and one man, who had also been abused.

Mr Bealing says he suspects there are other victims and is urging them to come forward.
