ACC examining lower speed results

9:35 pm on 6 February 2014

The Accident Compensation Corporation says it is working with police to analyse the Safer Summer campaign with a reduced speed threshold for drivers.

It says about 2000, or 40 percent, of its most seriously injured claimants were hurt in road crashes.

Spokesperson Glenn Donovan says the corporation is eager to lower that statistic and has supported the lower speed threshold campaign.

Over the next few months, he says ACC and police will try to work out the campaign's effectiveness by talking to drivers and comparing accident statistics with previous years.
