Epsom has highest household income

John Key's neighbours are the highest earners in the country.

Statistics New Zealand says median household incomes in the Epsom electorate, where the Prime Minister lives, are just over $130,000.

Northland has the lowest earners, at $53,000.

The figures were released by Statistics New Zealand from last year's census.

When it comes to personal incomes, those in the Ohariu electorate near Wellington earn the most - a median of $42,000; student-filled Dunedin North comes in the lowest at $19,000.

Wellington Central is home to the most highly educated electorate in the country, with

close to half having at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

The South Auckland suburb of Mangere is the lowest - just under 10 percent have university qualifications.

As for Cantabrians, the highest number of residents who own or partly own their homes is in Waimakariri at 64 percent.
