Spinal injuries building closed

10:53 pm on 24 July 2014

The Allan Bean Centre on the Burwood Health Campus was recently re-checked and more extensive cracking in the building was discovered.

The centre was opened in 2001 and had already been repaired once since the quakes.

Canterbury DHB's chief executive David Meates said it is disruptive and inconvenient for the occupants of the building - many of whom are in wheelchairs.

On an average day the centre sees about 40 to 50 people; a temporary centre is now being found.
