A former Westpac bank manager has been sentenced to two years and one month in prison for defrauding customers out of more than $350,000.

Helen Kemp pleaded guilty in the Wellington District Court to nine charges of illegally accessing a computer, forgery, obtaining by deception, and using a document.
She deceived six customers over four years by creating fake loans, credit cards, overdrafts and bank statements in their names and used the money to buy a new kitchen, car and to repay debt.
Judge Barbara Morris said Kemp's offending was aggravated because two of her victims were her closest family friends, while the others included a couple in their 80s.
However the judge said Kemp had shown genuine remorse and repaid just under half of the money she stole to the bank.
Westpac has fully reimbursed all the customers affected.
