More than 200 New Zealand police officers will help with security at the G20 leaders' summit in Brisbane next month, despite New Zealand not being a member country.
The deployment of 212 New Zealand Police staff is believed to be the largest ever undertaken overseas, and will involve staff from all police districts and the wider organisation.
Assistant Police Commissioner Mike Rusbatch said most staff would assist with route and venue security, with others deployed in a range of specialist roles.
New Zealand police would not be deployed in any front line public order or crowd control roles, he said.
All costs of the New Zealand deployment will be met by the Queensland Police.
The G20 nations are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
