A New Zealand woman, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a group of men in Sydney after meeting a man through mobile dating app Tinder, has retracted her statement.

Australian police say the 28-year-old woman withdrew her statement yesterday, following inquiries and the case was now closed pending any further information being provided.

The woman had told the police she went out with a man last Saturday and they were joined by some of his friends.

She then said she began to feel dizzy and numb, and was assaulted by the group of men at an unknown address.

Police are still encouraging people who use mobile dating apps and internet dating services to be careful.
