February proved a bumper month for house sales, with sales jumping about 42 per ent from January.
The Real Estate Institute recorded close to 7,000 dwelling sales in February - the highest sales level for the month since 2007.
The sales are up 12.6 percent on February last year.
The Institute's Chief Executive, Colleen Milne, said the surge in sales reflected a catch up after fewer sales than expected in January.
Last month, the national median house price was $430,000, an increase of about $15,000 on the same time last year.
