A DB Breweries spokesperson said the company was undertaking a consultation process which proposes changes to the way the Tui Brewery operates.

She said any changes to the operation should be finalised within the next two weeks. Any job cuts would not take effect until May 2016.

In a statement, the company said the proposed redevelopment included the installation of a smaller capacity brewery and a shift to a stronger focus on tourism in the area.

The Tui brewery HQ tours - which attract about 40,000 visitors a year - will continue.
