Fatal accidents on North Island roads

A series of accidents yesterday evening led to four people being killed on several highways in the North Island.

A woman passenger died in a three-car crash at an intersection on State Highway 2, in Upper Hutt, shortly after 6pm yesterday.

Around the same time, two people were killed when two cars collided on State Highway 10 at Oromahoe in the Far North.

Police said the crash happened at 6pm at the Puketona Rd and highway junction in Oromahoe.

Four other people were injured, but not seriously.

And a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a bus in Rotorua.

Police said the woman was hit by the bus at the intersection of Te Ngae and Coulter Roads in the suburb of Owhata, at 7.30pm yesterday.

The Police Serious Crash Unit are investigating.
