Dannevirke police are appealing for public help following the sexual assault of a teenage girl who was abducted from a street in the town at about 7pm on Friday night.
Police say the girl, 16, was approached by two men in a silver coloured car similar to a Subaru.
They say the passenger grabbed the girl from behind, dragging her into the car.
The driver then sped off out of town on Guy Street to Ruahine Street and on to Umutaoroa Road on the outskirts of northern Dannevirke, where the girl was sexually assaulted in a paddock.
Police are calling for any information or sightings of the girl and the two men.
