One person is missing and another is in hospital after a car went off the road and is submerged in the water in Christchurch.
The car went into the water on Main Road near Moncks Bay.
Police said the driver of the car was receiving treatment in hospital, but it was believed there was another person in the car.
But they said searchers have not found the other person or the submerged car.
The search has been called of for the night - but the police dive squad will resume tomorrow morning.
