Two people are dead after two fatal crashes this afternoon - one on a bridge in central Hamilton, and another on State Highway One in rural Otago.

The Hamilton crash happened on Victoria Bridge just after 2pm.
The victim had been initially listed as critically injured, but police said that person had now died from their injuries.
Police said the bridge may be closed for some time while the crash was investigated.
Meanwhile, another person is dead and three others are in hospital following a serious crash between a car and a truck south of Dunedin this afternoon.
The crash happened at about 3.20pm, and State Highway One was blocked in both directions between Milton and Waihola, south of Dunedin.
Police said the three people in hospital had moderate to serious injuries.
Emergency services were at the scene and the road was expected to remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigated.
Diversions were in place.
