The risk of new cases of typhoid is low and the outbreak in Auckland is now under control, Public Health officials say.

Last week it was revealed a woman had died of the disease a week earlier, amid allegations by her family they were not told she had the illness.

Auckland Regional Public Health said it met with the woman's church, the Mount Albert Assembly of God, to answer questions on the outbreak and provide information about testing and prevention.

It said a meeting with the woman's family and the church on Friday was positive, and although all parties acknowledged there were areas that could have gone better, they have agreed to work together.

The number of cases remains unchanged at 18 confirmed cases, one probable and one under investigation.
