Police have arrested 12 people following a 10-month investigation into a methamphetamine and cannabis ring in Wairoa and Gisborne.

They said the arrests followed a search of six properties in Wairoa and one in Gisborne.

The accused men and women, aged between 20 and 60, were expected to appear in the Gisborne District Court tomorrow facing a combined total of more than 100 charges, including supplying meth and cannabis.

The arrests came on the same day as police in Wellington arrested six people and seized cash, firearms and other assets worth millions.
