Report into adventure tourism industry received

Labour Minister Kate Wilkinson has received the final report following a review of the adventure tourism industry.

The review was led by the Department of Labour. It was announced in September last year by Prime Minister John Key in response to a series of accidents in the recent years.

Emily Jordan, 21, was on a river boarding trip in April 2008 when she became trapped under rocks in the Kawarau River and drowned.

That same year, six Elim Christian College students and their teacher died on a canyoning trip at the Sir Edmund Hillary outdoor pursuit centre.

Ms Wilkinson says she hopes to be able to take any recommendations from the report to Cabinet within the next month.
