A burglar who broke into a Hawke's Bay home and raided a family's freezer may be in for a surprise after stealing two placentas in the process.

Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the placentas, which were being kept in white containers, similar to a two-litre ice cream container.

The burglary took place during the day in the Tamatea area yesterday.

A large quantity of food was also taken from the freezer.

The placentas were being kept in the freezer for whānau while a decision was made as to where they would be buried.
