No sign of oil after Nelson spill, say authorities

There is no sign of oil left after a spill in Nelson harbour early on Monday, according to authorities.

An estimated 300 to 500 litres of diesel oil leaked into Port Nelson while a fishing boat was being refuelled about 4am.

Environmental officer Stephen Lawrence says although there was some slick carried into the Nelson Haven and the mouth of the Maitai River by an incoming tide, it appears to have been flushed out.

Spot checks of the coast and water off Nelson have not shown any signs of damage.
