Firefighters in Wairarapa took six hours on Friday night to extinguish a farm burn-off that got out of control.
The Fire Service says at one point the fire at Pirinoa, between Martinborough and Lake Ferry, had a front extending 6 - 7km. Three appliances and a helicopter were needed.
The blaze was finally extinguished at midnight.
