Police are appealing for any information on a German tourist who has gone missing in Abel Tasman National Park.
Marcel Schuppenhauer, 33, was walking the park's track and failed to return to Takaka earlier this week as expected.
He was last seen at Anchorage Hut last Saturday.
Sergeant Arthur Clarence says police are making preparations to begin a search.
Mr Clarence says Mr Schuppenhauer has no known experience in the outdoors and is travelling alone.
