Massey lecturers' jobs under threat in review

9:00 pm on 9 April 2009

Massey University says staff numbers must reflect student demand, and how much research funding is received.

Tertiary Education Union vice-president Barry Foster says six lecturers may lose their jobs.

He says the staffing review contradicts university statements about the importance of investing in science.

Mr Foster says the university's vice chancellor, Steve Maharey, has made public statements about the importance of investing in science and developing New Zealand's expertise in food research.
