Police are seeking witnesses to a serious assault in Wellington on Monday.
The attack happened at about 8.30pm, near the Waitangi Park skate ramp in Cable Street.
The male victim had to be admitted to Wellington Hospital's intensive care unit and required surgery for facial injuries.
Police say witnesses report seeing the man surrounded by up to five offenders, including a woman, as he lay on the ground.
Detective Sergeant Martin Todd says it appears the offenders also urinated on the man, who was robbed of cash and other property.
He says the victim has no memory of what happened and police want to hear from anyone with information about the attack.
