Polyfest performance seen as worthy of NCEA

Organisers of the Auckland secondary schools cultural festival are pushing to have achievement in the huge event accepted as an NCEA qualification.

Organiser Tania Karauria told Waatea News that Polyfest is working with key sponsor Massey University to prepare a paper for the Government on how such a qualification could work.

She says the standard of performance is getting better each year, and the skill level required deserves recognition.

This year's first-division kapa haka winner was Western Springs College. Second was Auckland Girls Grammar - winner the previous two years - and Kura Kaupapa o Hoani Waititi was third.
