Gun drawn by police officer after taser failed

A police officer in Hamilton had to draw her gun after a colleague's taser failed to subdue a man during an attack at the weekend.

Two officers were called to a domestic incident between a father and son on Sunday night.

The father had left the house by the time officers arrived, but returned as they were leaving and confronted them.

Police say a taser was used on the man twice, but it had little effect and an attack on both officers by the father, his son and a sibling followed.

The officers also used batons and pepper spray before drawing a gun.

All three family members were arrested, and face charges of aggravated assault and resisting police.

Both officers were bruised and one had a ruptured blood vessel in an eye.
