Residents in Wellington have reported a phone scam in which a person, claiming to be a Microsoft employee who is willing to help them fix a virus on their computer, asks for computer passwords.
Police have fielded more than 60 calls about the scam in the past two days from residents in Wellington city, Hutt Valley and Kapiti.
They warn anyone who receives a call of that nature to hang up immediately.
