Police disappointed at behaviour of league crowd

Police in Auckland say they are disappointed at the ugly crowd behaviour during Saturday night's rugby league test match at Eden Park.

The match between Australia and New Zealand attracted more than 40,000 people and was a test-run for both the stadium and transport services.

Police say Eden Park received a number of calls from distressed home owners.

Six people were arrested from the venue, a number of fights broke out around the stadium, and plastic bottles were thrown on the field.

But police say they are generally satisfied with the way the facility handled the event and the rugby world cup aspects that were tested.

Australia beat New Zealand 34-20.

The Four Nations final between the Kangaroos and Kiwis is in Brisbane next weekend.
