NZ retain title at netball champs

The New Zealand FastNet team has retained their world series netball title with a 28-26 win over England in the final in Liverpool.

Apart from an opening match loss to Australia and a draw with Jamaica later in the six-nation tournament, the New Zealanders' speed and passing ability proved too good for their opponents.

New Zealand had just one Silver Fern in the squad but defended the title they won at the inaugural tournament last year against an England side full of top international players.

The FastNet Ferns beat Jamaica 29-28 to advance to the final, while England pipped Australia in the second semi.

Games are played in six-minute quarters with unlimited subsitution, double point powerplays and two point goals from outside the circle throughout.
