Taipa landowner seeks to evict Maori group

The owner of land occupied by a Maori group in the Far North says he will take legal action this week to evict them.

Todd Male, who lives in Auckland, says he spoke to Ngati Kahu occupation leaders at Taipa at the weekend and asked them to leave.

He says the response was not favourable, and he now has no option but to serve them with trespass notices.

Mr Mayle says his family has been prepared to discuss selling the land to the Crown or Ngati Kahu but will no longer do so while they are occupying it.

He says he will drive up to the Far North on Monday night or Tuesday morning to sort out trespass orders and talk to his Taipa neighbours.
